It was my honor to serve as ER in 1997-98. We had a good year thanks to the help of a lot of members and a devoted team of officers. However there was turmoil in the lodge and I lost my Leading Knight and Lodge Sweetheart early in the year, we pulled together and overcame this obstacle. My new team of officers went on to compete in State Ritual Competiton and brought back 4 out of 7 all state awards. These officers were:
Del De La Garza Est. Leading Knight
Charles Fenicum Est. Loyal Knight All State Officer
Gary Koen Est. Lecturing Knight All State Officer
Sam Wilson Esquire
Gayden Hays Chaplain All State Officer
Robert GiorgioInner Guard
Fred Kunish Tiler
M. Duke LaneSecretaryRitual Coach
Steve HurchTreasurer
Jeff Morris 5 Year Trustee
Don Hamby 4 Year Trustee
Ron Reid 3 Year Trustee
Jerry Hutcherson 2 Year Trustee
John McMahon 1 Year Trustee
Our new lodge Sweet Heart was April Boudreau who raised over $4200 for the State Major Project.
The Lodge had a lot of accomplishments that year do to the work of a lot of members. We poured 2 sections of concrete parking lot, paid back the people who financed the golf course, replaced a 10 ton air conditioner, built a pump house for the pool equipment, acquired 5 acres of land, replaced the 62" TV and 100 chairs, put a new ceiling in the kitchen, remodeled the restrooms and added playground equipment in the pool area. Definitely a busy year for a lot of people. The Elks of the months that year were:
